meet Aura. she lives with her two children in a little town here in Guatemala. in January, someone came and set fire to their home. thankfully, they caught it fast enough to save everything but the kitchen. as you can see from the pictures below, I use the word 'kitchen' loosely. typical kitchens here are an enclosed space, safe from the rain where you can put your wood-fire stove.
Aura asked for help, and didn't mind using our recycled materials, so she got herself a new kitchen! from unloading the supplies through a coffee field, to cutting rough edges with a machete - it's all about making due! we had a great morning of building, and were happy to leave the family with a new, safe cooking space. enjoy some pictures of the process below!
we hope you have many tasty meals in your new kitchen space Aura!
